Publicity Chic is Born!

@PublicityChic is born this evening out of the passion I feel for PR regardless of the incredible understatement used in my last post. Basically it boils down to this: anyone starting a new venture, rolling out a new product or project, trying to draw attention to himself/herself or their talent, cause, etc. needs a good publicist. I just happen to be one. Without giving away too much about my age, lets just say that in the late 80's when advertising and PR was going like crazy in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul) I was privileged to intern and later become an associate at a very prestigious firm and learned everything there was to know from their top Senior VP. I learned it from the ground up and I LOVED IT and still do.Of course, everything is very different now with SEO drived emailed press releases, but it is only more exciting! The reach is to much farther and we can drive traffic to our customers websites and send press releases via email to reporters. We can also reach them online as they are doing searches on Google and Yahoo and MSN for their stories by using good keywords in the press releases. It is so much more exciting, there is so much more we can do and for less money. Bigger and better results. More placements on radio and tv and magazine and newspaper for our clients and less out of pocket for them that in traditional PR. It's a great time to be a publicist if you know how to cut the corners for your clients and how to do a good SEO press release, do good back linking and key wording, and be a dynamo at talking to the media. Well, if you're me! So I've started a new Twitter account with the focus being on publicity -- so people can feel free to bring their questions to @PublicityChic. I will offer free advice and enlighten on the dark corners of the mysterious world of publicity and hopefully create some excitement -- or what we in the game call BUZZ -- for the subject that can mean so much to so many. Well this is @PublicityChic signing off for now. See you on Twitter!

Publicist for Musicians through @libbytalks and @LBSConsult Accounts

Without a lot of obnoxious nudging from me, word got out on Twitter that I am a publicist. I started the @LBSConsult account to let people know. I linked a website to that account about my services, at: http://lbs-consult.com/. Every now and then I would mention it, but not that often in the main Twitter stream. It was on my bio on the LBS account and finally on the libbytalks account. If I was talking with friends, if the subject called for it I would mention it. And now, with almost 5,000 friends on libbytalks, I am finding myself with a nice publicity business going. I would like to say this is all due to hard work and thoughtful tweeting on my part, but it is in large part to a friend of mine on twitter: @EricSmithCMG. Sometime in September he called my toll free number asking me to bid on some business for a hip hop singer. I didn't win the bid, but he kept calling. What a great guy! He would run singers/bands by me and I started to get business as a publicist working in tandem with the music consulting firm he represents: CMG. So now this Rock 'n Roll gal is learning all about Hip Hop -- and I will say most definitely -- it has its merits. Certainly all the young men I have met are wonderful: Craig and Co. -- @DaGwopKrew on Twitter, Robert Jordan of @rjministries who sings R and B style gospel, Joshua Wright, @GameBreaker8605 on Twitter. They are a real joy to work with -- as is Eric. I will keep you all posted as time goes on -- how my venture into the music business is shaping up. I still have a press release with the Damien Cripps Band from Australia, @DamienCripps on Twitter pending. The entertainment industry is a fun place for any publicist to hang their hat and I'm very happy to be a part of it. I'm going to continue to work very hard and get these guys some great results!

Wonderful Friends Because of Twitter!

Twitter is a place to hangout and exchange ideas, converse, thank each other for kindnesses, the list goes one. What you may or may not have read, it is also a place for making lifelong friends. Here are a few of mine. All different, all extraordinary. All would give you the shoes off their feet if you hadn't any!
Here is my friend Chuck @DailyImage @Fun2Tweet. He was my very first GREAT friend on Twitter. I was quite the newbie when he did an introduction for me. He not only quoted my bio but did a link to my website. No one had ever done anything like that for me before. We were fast friends as my family says, friends from the start. I hope I reciprocate his kindnesses well. Thanks Chuck!
This is Heather @AliveinMe and @Epilepsycures on Twitter, a wonderful Child of God. She came to know Him some what late in her young life. She is making up for lost time! Sharing her faith with everyone and her dramatic testimony --what a delight to know! She has become one of my very best friends on and off Twitter. We Skype and I hardly ever go a day without talking to her. She has had so many awful things to deal with in life --and still does with her health, but she's not a complainer. She is funny, engaging, full of laughter and fun! Such a very dear friend and sister! She has severe epilepsy and is facing her third brain surgery...so please pray for her safety and wholeness...thank you!
David, Twitter name @RetiredTeacherD also with a strong faith, is very kind and giving soul who has helped me MANY times on Twitter. He is truly a genius with all of this and so helpful to his thousands of friends. Everyone loves @RetiredTeacherD and appreciates his advice and kindness. We have what he has termed an #Eternal Friendship! And his wife Nancy @LoveAlwaysNear is very sweet too!
You probably recognize @DamienCripps from his band's music and another post on this blog...he is a real great guy my "mate" :) from Perth, Australia -- a terrific musician and friend. I'm delighted he and the band are coming to the U.S. for a tour in 2010. Can hardly wait actually. If they cannot make it to Minneapolis, no doubt I will find a way to the nearest city to mine to see them and meet Damien face to face. Early in our friendship, he was delightful to me and took me through a personal tour on Twitter of their songs by sending me links -- from "Lemon Tree" to "Universe". I so enjoyed it and still am as you may now listen to all of them on ReverbNation! http://www.reverbnation.com/damiencrippsband
I have so many other great friends, super girl friends like @nursemom90, @_stoicOne_, @patmish2004 and a great many others. I will continue to highlight them here as a regular feature of this blog. Thanks friends for making such a difference in my day and life! God bless!

Re-Opened @LBSConsult on Sun. Oct. 18th! :)

Well I found this little saying on my computer I had saved a while back and it really describes what I went through toying with the idea of closing @LBSConsult on Twitter. I felt inadequate to handle the two accounts and yet they were both thriving. Who am I to stand in the way of something that's growing -- and possibly even blessed -- a dream of mine, perhaps a dream God gave me? So I shaped up today and blessedly Twitter allowed me to reopen LBS. I didn't think they would. When I closed it they said they wouldn't. Reopening it today, I found it had 1200+ followers...it had actually grown!

Not being one to be negative in the face of something dear, growing AND a dream of mind...to have a publicity business run from leads from Twitter, from @LBSConsult or @libbytalks, I'm going to quit worrying and just be myself on both accounts. That will make me and everyone else a lot happier. No worries! Just blessings!

God bless, Libby

Closed @LBSConsult Account on Twitter 10/17/09

It's been a very difficult decision closing @LBSConsult on Twitter. My publicity company's name is LBS Consult and it is alive and well, however I didn't like having two accounts on Twitter and that is the short version. And the honest one. @libbytalks is my original account and my Twitter identity -- it's me -- so that is how I'll stay. I will still answer any publicity questions on this @libbytalks, try to get clients, when people express an interest, and leave a link to my company website up here on the @libbytalks blog. Well, that is he extent of it. I would appreciate your comments...and questions on Twitter.

God bless! Libby

Closing down the @LBSConsult Account on Twitter

After a few months and about 1100 followers, I am closing down @LBSConsult, my business account on Twitter. Why you may ask? Well, I have just one personality and it's fun loving...hard-working, but fun loving. The minute I decide I MUST have a business account on Twitter, for some reason I feel that person should be serious and talk about business. Or I overcompensate and try not to talk about business. Everything feels rather stilted to me.

On my regular Twitter account @libbytalks I'm just me, Libby. So interestingly enough, even though I have a business account, all my publicity clients have come to me through friends and connections I make on @libbytalks -- where I am just hanging out and being myself and things are just naturally happening! So if you are one of the 1100 followers of @LBSConsult -- she's a sweet kid -- but I would advise you at the end of the week when she closes up shop to follow @libbytalks because she is a lot of fun!

@DamienCripps Band's music on @libbytalks Blog

Something new on this site MUSIC! Well it's here for two reasons. One: I am good friends with Damien Cripps on twitter the name behind this band. Okay three reasons. Two: I love their music and three: I have become a DJ on twitter on BlipFM: libbyspins and I play their music a lot! My husband thought of the name libbyspins...I think it fits. I also have a business account on Twitter now LBSConsult. So I am pretty busy. Running my own business which I have had since 1998, Publicity, PR and marketing, some e-commerce now, my fun and humanitarian twitter account: libbytalks and blippin' on BlipFM as libbyspins. Is it a wonder my facebook friends have started to wonder what has become of me? :)
